Summary:

India and the GCC held their first Foreign Ministers' meeting in Riyadh, where they adopted a Joint Action Plan for 2024–2028. The plan covers health, trade, agriculture, food security, transportation, energy, and culture, with opportunities for further collaboration.

 

External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar called for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza to address the humanitarian crisis and reaffirmed India’s support for a two-state solution. He highlighted the deeprooted India-GCC relationship, emphasizing their historical, cultural, and economic ties. Jaishankar acknowledged the GCC’s role as India’s “extended” neighborhood and its support for the Indian diaspora. The meeting reviewed the positive trajectory of India-GCC relations, discussed regional issues, and engaged with foreign ministers from the GCC, Russia, and Brazil.
