Summary:
ICRA Analytics reports that large and mid-cap funds are attracting substantial investor interest amid increased volatility caused by geopolitical concerns and global uncertainty. These funds offer diversification and strong returns, with AUM expanding more than fivefold from US$ 5.96 billion in July 2019 to US$ 30.62 billion by July 2024. Their annualized returns are 44.07% for one year and 16.40% for seven years, with portfolios increasing by 126% to 100.78 lakh.
Despite market challenges, the Indian mutual fund sector saw a 130% surge in net inflows to US$ 22.52 billion (Rs. 1.89 lakh crore) in July 2024. Net AUM increased by 40% to approximately US$ 774.45 billion (Rs. 65 lakh crore). Equity mutual funds grew more than fourfold to US$ 4.42 billion (Rs. 37,113 crore). Sectoral funds raised US$ 2.19 billion (Rs. 18,386 crore); however, diversified funds offer higher risk protection.
