Summary:
In 2025, a rise in electric vehicles (EVs) is anticipated, with SUVs leading the new releases. Major manufacturers such as Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai, Mahindra, Tata Motors, Mercedes, Audi, and BYD are planning significant EV rollouts. Tesla may also consider entering the Indian market with imported vehicles. This growth is driven by the government's clean mobility initiative, which addresses pollution, fuel import costs, and increasing emission standards, as well as potential penalties that are pushing the shift to EVs.
The Bharat Mobility Auto Show in mid-January will kick off the 2025 EV debuts. Maruti Suzuki will unveil its first BEV, the eVitara, which boasts a 500 km range and is priced over Rs. 15 lakh (US$ 17,490.84). Hyundai plans to launch the Creta EV, while Tata Motors will offer electric versions of the Sierra, Harrier, and Safari, priced above Rs. 20 lakh (US$ 23,321.12). Premium models such as the Mercedes G580 Electric G, Audi Q6 e-tron, and Skoda Enyaq will also be showcased, alongside hybrid variants.
