Summary:

Mr. Devendra Fadnavis, Maharashtra's Deputy Chief Minister, declared that the state aims to be the first in India to achieve 50% of its energy demands from non-traditional sources by 2030. At the foundation stone-laying ceremony for Avaada Electro Pvt Ltd's plant in Nagpur, he emphasized solar energy developments. The state has authorized solar projects totaling 20,000 megawatts (MW), with a historical capacity of 40,000 MW and solar pump storage of 55,000 MW.

 

He emphasized that Maharashtra is on pace to meet its target of using solar and non-traditional energy by 2030. The Avaada project will cost roughly $1.67 billion (Rs. 14,000 crore), with production commencing in April 2025. It is planned to create 5,000 jobs, with women accounting for 51% of the total.
