Summary:
Indian investors are becoming one of the most active buyer groups in the United Kingdom (UK) property sector, especially in London. Backed by favourable exchange rates, steady rental returns and long-term wealth strategies, high-net-worth individuals (HNWIs) and family offices from India are steadily increasing their investments in UK real estate. London-based Source Property Investments recently introduced its high-end residential project ‘Halo’ (by Berkeley Group) in India before launching it in the UK, highlighting the growing importance of Indian buyers. Currently, more than 50% of the company’s investor base consists of Indian citizens, showing continued strong interest.
As per the latest insights from Knight Frank and Savills, Indian investors were among the top five foreign buyer categories in Prime Central London in 2024. Investments from this group grew by over 17% YoY, signalling rising trust in the UK’s real estate sector. This trend is also driven by increasing student enrolment and business relocation from India to the UK. Indian buyers are focusing on both value growth and rental income opportunities. With the average property priced at around Rs. 10 crore (US$ 1.2 million), the volume of Indian investment is steadily rising, underlining their expanding influence on the UK real estate market.
