Summary:

The Uttar Pradesh government is leading a green revolution in collaboration with the Smart Energy Council of Australia and the Hinduja Group. It aims to generate 500 GW of solar energy by 2030, transforming areas such as Bundelkhand and Vindhya into solar hubs. The government’s Solar Mitra Yojana aims to create local jobs in solar panel production, installation, and grid integration. Since Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath took office in 2017, the state’s solar energy production has increased from 288 MW to over 2,800 MW, with further development expected. The Solar Energy Policy 2022 sets a target of 2,200 MW. Plans include solar farms, motorway grids, and railway links. The Bundelkhand Expressway will be India’s first solar expressway. Ayodhya is becoming a solar city, with rooftop installations increasing under the PM Surya Ghar Yojana.
