Summary:

The Government e-Marketplace (GeM), India’s digital procurement platform, has reached a remarkable milestone by facilitating the hiring of over one million manpower resources for government organisations in FY25. This achievement underscores GeM’s role in revolutionising public procurement by fostering transparency, compliance and operational efficiency. The platform streamlines manpower outsourcing, enabling government buyers to engage skilled and unskilled professionals across diverse roles, including security personnel, horticulture staff, multi-tasking staff, data entry operators and facility management specialists. With more than 33,000 service providers onboarded, GeM offers flexible hiring solutions tailored to specific requirements, such as minimum wage compliance and fixed remuneration models.

GeM’s CEO, Mr Ajay Bhadoo, remarked, “By leveraging digital innovation, GeM has evolved into a comprehensive procurement platform serving government buyers at all levels. Our manpower outsourcing service simplifies the hiring process while ensuring strict adherence to labour regulations through a robust Service Level Agreement (SLA).” The platform’s key features include flexibility in workforce selection, specialised role categorisation, transparent pricing structures and stringent legal compliance. Launched in 2016, GeM initially provided essential services such as manpower hiring, cab services, security solutions and cleaning & sanitation. Over the past five years, it has significantly expanded its offerings, now encompassing over 330 services, including cutting-edge solutions like drone services, augmented reality/virtual reality (AR/VR) applications, cloud computing and cybersecurity services. Surpassing the one million manpower hiring mark in FY25 reflects the platform’s growing credibility and widespread adoption across government sectors.
